The Zamfara State Coordinator of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Campaign Council in the 2023 general elections, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, has lauded the president’s hands-off approach in the Supreme Court’s recent governorship rulings.

The senator emphasized that this non-interference has not only preserved democracy but also reignited confidence in the judicial system.

In a statement released to media men, Senator Marafa praised President Tinubu and the Supreme Court justices for allowing the will of Nigerian voters to prevail in the confirmation of eight governors, including notable figures like Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos).

The senator expressed confidence that history will judge them favourably for their commitment to upholding justice.

Highlighting the significance of President Tinubu’s decision not to intervene despite party pressures, Senator Marafa underscored its role in preventing a scenario reminiscent of the collapse of the Second Republic in 1983, where states shifted allegiance after a political power grab.

Commending the Supreme Court justices, Sen Marafa asserted that their decisions have not only made the nation proud but have also solidified his belief in the judiciary’s capacity to rectify political injustices.

He drew attention to a similar incident in the 2019 general elections, where the judiciary’s intervention favoured the opposition in Zamfara State.

Senator Marafa stressed the importance of allowing the judiciary to operate justly and fairly, emphasizing that such impartiality is crucial for the longevity of democracy in the country.

He called on the eight governors, including Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, to govern with magnanimity, justice, and fairness.

Sen Marafa urged Governor Dauda Lawal to collaborate with President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and relevant security agencies to restore peace and security in Zamfara State, emphasizing the people’s yearning for tranquillity.
