President Bola Tinubu has instructed the National Single Window (NSW) Steering Committee to make sure the platform operates fully by the first quarter of 2026.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, shared the president’s directive during the fifth steering committee meeting at the State House in Abuja, in which he was represented by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
He stressed the importance of financial and trade reforms for the country’s economic transformation.
“It’s crucial to stay focused on this project to meet our deadlines and deliver the results the president expects,” he said.
He noted that the project is one of President Tinubu’s key initiatives, emphasizing that the unified electronic platform will simplify Nigeria’s import and export processes.
According to him, the NSW will increase investment and trade revenues, enhance transparency, and strengthen Nigeria’s reputation in global business.
Gbajabiamila asked all agencies to refine their targets and key performance indicators to meet the first phase deadline.
“I expect that since our last meeting on April 8, 2025, all stakeholders have made progress with their key performance indicators and targets to ensure we go live with phase one in Q1 2026 as planned,” he stated.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, described the progress as encouraging but stressed the need for quick action.
He called for a shift from planning to actual implementation, recognizing the project’s complexity but its potential for significant change.
Edun urged the committee to work together and overcome remaining challenges to meet the rollout timeline.
Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, also encouraged the committee to work diligently to meet the Q1 2026 deadline.
Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, expressed gratitude to the president for his ongoing support of the project.
“Thank you on behalf of the steering committee for your endless support,” he said.
He added that the reward for hard work is more responsibility, noting that the single window is now part of the law.
He urged committee members to maintain their focus on the task ahead.

Director of the National Single Window (NSW) project, Tola Fakolade, provided an update on the committee’s progress.
“All key project milestones for the second quarter of 2025 have been met, and we have started customizing the Single Window platform,” he said.
He assured everyone that the committee would adhere to the timelines.
The National Single Window project is a government effort to simplify trade processes through a central electronic platform for importers and exporters.
This digital trade platform aims to drive economic growth and facilitate cross-border transactions.
Launched in April 2024, the NSW seeks to bring together all agencies involved in imports and exports on a unified electronic site.
It aims to lower trade costs, reduce delays, and improve transparency and efficiency at Nigerian ports.
