Reports suggest that President Bola Tinubu will host the Super Falcons and the team’s officials at the Presidential Villa today.
This event is set to take place as the Nigerian team is expected to arrive in Abuja today from Morocco.
The team achieved a remarkable comeback victory against the host nation in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.
Despite being down by two goals at one point, the Falcons rallied to defeat the Atlas Lionesses 3-2 in an exciting match.
This victory marks Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title.
President Tinubu had previously reached out to congratulate the team on their win and approved the payment of their long-overdue bonuses and allowances just before the final.
Sources close to the Presidency believe that the players and officials will receive substantial rewards from the president in recognition of their heroic efforts and their success in securing another continental title.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu has been in high spirits since the Super Falcons claimed the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Praising the team, Tinubu remarked that they have uplifted the nation’s spirits. “You are a source of pride for your generation, and we are all very happy,” he stated.
The 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) marks the nation’s record 10th continental title.
In a post-match video call with team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, players, and officials, the president expressed his pride and eagerness to welcome the team and the trophy back to Abuja.
Later, in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president expressed his joy, saying, “I am very, very proud of you. The entire nation is proud of you.
“You have lifted our spirits. You are a pride to your generation, and we are all very happy.”
Tinubu also congratulated the coaching staff, team management, ministers, and officials involved in the victory, promising the team a grand celebration.
“I just spoke with our Super Falcons.
“On behalf of all Nigerians, at home, in Morocco, and around the world, I conveyed our pride. They have elevated our spirits with their brilliance, resilience, and unity.
