President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reappointed Dr. Muheeba Dankaka as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) for another five-year term, reaffirming his confidence in her leadership. The announcement, made on Monday, August 11, 2025, through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, also revealed a major shake-up in the Commission’s leadership structure.
Mohammed Musa has been named the new Secretary of the Commission, while Kayode Oladele from Ogun State, a former member of the House of Representatives who briefly served as Acting Chairman after Dankaka’s first tenure ended, will retain his role as commissioner.
In a strategic move aimed at strengthening the FCC’s operations nationwide, President Tinubu renewed the appointments of Lawal Ya’u Roni from Jigawa, Abubakar Atiku Bunu from Kebbi, and Eludayo Eluyemi from Osun for a second term. He also approved a diverse list of new commissioners representing all states and the Federal Capital Territory, reflecting the FCC’s mandate of promoting fairness and equity in federal appointments.
Among the high-profile appointments are Hon. Obina Oriaku from Abia, Mrs. Bema Olvadi Madayi from Adamawa, Obongawan Dora Ebong from Akwa Ibom, Hon. Nnoli Nkechi Gloria from Anambra, and Babangida Adamu Gwana from Bauchi. Also joining the Commission are Sir Tonye Okio from Bayelsa, Aligba Eugene Tarkende from Benue, Engr. Modu Mustapha from Borno, Dr. Stella Odey Ekpo from Cross River, and Ederin Lovette Idisi from Delta.

Additional appointees are Alh. Isah Jibrin from Niger, Comrade Ajimudu Bola from Ondo, Prince Ayodeji Abas Aleshinloye from Oyo, Hon. Pam Bolman from Plateau, Aaron Chukwuemeka from Rivers, Alh. Aminu Tambar from Sokoto, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama from Taraba, Hon. Jibir Maigari from Yobe, Sani Garba from Zamfara, and Solomon Ayuba Dagami representing the Federal Capital Territory.
