President Bola Tinubu has ordered for the quickrestoration of peace and security in Benue State, following series of violent attacks that have led to casualties.
In a renewed effort to stop the continuous violence, the president sent high-ranking officials from the intelligence agencies, police, and military to oversee security measures and restore order in the state.
Responding to the recent incidents, President Tinubu condemned the aggression as “barbaric and detrimental to progress,” stressing the necessity to prevent the continuation of the killings.
He issued a stern caution to political and community figures to refrain from making provocative remarks that could heighten tensions.
“The recent reports of indiscriminate slaughter in Benue State are profoundly disheartening. We cannot permit this slaughter to persist without restraint. This has to be the end,” the president proclaimed.

President Tinubu also urged Governor Hyacinth Alia, to step up and start discussions and reconciliation processes among the conflicting groups, farmers, and herders.
“This is the moment for Governor Alia to demonstrate leadership and promptly initiate dialogue and reconciliation efforts that will restore peace to Benue. Our citizens deserve to live harmoniously,” stated Tinubu.
He reiterated his instructions to law enforcement agencies to firmly apprehend and hold accountable all individuals involved in the violence, irrespective of their affiliations.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, issued this statement on Sunday, June 15, 2025, reaffirming the government’s determination to put an end to the cycle of violence and encourage peaceful cohabitation in Benue and throughout Nigeria.
