President Bola Tinubu has given the immediate go-ahead for the recruitment of 30,150 new personnel across four pivotal paramilitary agencies. This directive, aimed at boosting manpower and efficiency, marks a critical step in the nation’s efforts to safeguard its citizens and improve public services.

The directive was formally communicated in an official letter, dated June 3, 2025, originating from the Office of the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) and addressed to the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission. Signed by Major General AM Jibril (Rtd), the CDCFIB Secretary, the letter confirms the President’s sweeping order for extensive recruitment within these key security agencies, alongside the board’s own secretariat.

Under this ambitious recruitment plan, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is set to welcome 10,000 new personnel, a move expected to significantly strengthen border control and immigration processes. Concurrently, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) will also onboard another 10,000 recruits, reinforcing its capacity in maintaining law and order and protecting critical national assets.

Further bolstering the nation’s security apparatus, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) is slated to receive 5,150 new recruits, which will undoubtedly improve correctional facility management and inmate welfare. The Federal Fire Service (FFS) will see a substantial boost with the addition of 5,000 personnel, enhancing its emergency response capabilities and fire safety efforts nationwide. Additionally, the CDCFIB Secretariat itself will be reinforced with 209 new staff members, optimizing its administrative functions.

To expedite this crucial process, the CDCFIB has formally requested a waiver to shorten the standard six-week advertisement period for job openings in national newspapers to a more efficient three weeks. Crucially, the communication also included a vital financial clearance from the Budget Office of the Federation, confirming that all necessary funding for this extensive recruitment initiative has been secured and is readily available. This massive influx of personnel is anticipated to have a transformative impact on Nigeria’s security landscape and public service efficiency.
