President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the name of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Enugu State, Kingsley Tochukwu-Udeh, to the Senate for confirmation as a minister.
The request, read during Tuesday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was made in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers the president to appoint ministers subject to Senate approval.
Tinubu urged the Senate to give the nomination swift consideration, expressing confidence in Udeh’s capacity to serve.

The nomination comes after the resignation of the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, who stepped down last month following controversies surrounding his academic credentials and NYSC certificate.
Nnaji’s exit left Enugu State without a representative in the Federal Executive Council, a situation Tinubu appears keen to address by nominating the nominee from Enugu State.
Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for immediate screening and confirmation.
