President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sympathy to former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, over the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega.
The President’s condolence was conveyed on Sunday through Vice President Kashim Shettima, who attended the Janazah prayer held at the National Mosque Abuja.
In his message, Tinubu described the late Hajiya Hadiza as a woman of rare grace and strength, noting her steady support for her husband throughout his years in public service, including his tenure at the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He also recognised her quiet but meaningful contributions to education and community development, stating that her influence extended beyond her immediate family into wider society.

The President said he received news of her passing with deep sadness and prayed for Almighty Allah to grant her Aljannatul Firdaus. He further asked for strength and comfort for Professor Jega and his family as they mourn their loss.

The passing of Hajiya Hadiza Jega has drawn tributes from political figures and associates, many of whom have acknowledged her role as a pillar of support during one of the most demanding periods in Nigeria’s electoral history.
