President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to the Nigerian military and the families of six soldiers who lost their lives in a dawn terrorist attack on January 4, 2025, at an army base in Sabon Gida, Damboa, Borno State. The tragic incident, which shook the nation, underscores the ongoing challenges in the fight against terrorism.
In his heartfelt message, Tinubu honored the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen heroes, pledging that their commitment to defending Nigeria would never be forgotten. “Their sacrifice will forever be remembered as a testament to their love for our nation,” he said.
Reacting to the incident, President Tinubu called for a comprehensive investigation into the attack, urging the military to draw lessons from the tragedy to prevent future occurrences. He lauded the swift response of the armed forces, particularly the air component, which launched retaliatory strikes that neutralized numerous terrorists and destroyed their fleeing assets.
