Tinubu inaugurates N2bn TETFUND projects in University of Calabar

President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated N2 billion worth of projects executed by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) at the University of Calabar.

The projects inauguration was part of events to mark the institution’s 50th anniversary and 37th convocation ceremony.

The projects inaugurated are the hall of fame complex, at the cost of over N826 million, faculty of engineering workshop at N162 million, and the N482 million pharmacy administrative block.

Others include the N185 million fire service station, and the N526 million faculty of education building.

President Tinubu, who was represented at the occasion by Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), noted the prudent management of funds by the University of Calabar and promised more interventions.

“We have commissioned about five or six projects today. Some were abandoned for more than a decade, while some were constructed within seven months.

“It is a great accomplishment by the incumbent vice chancellor and her management team. I congratulate them for the great achievement.

“With the prudent management by the University of Calabar, we hope to see many other massive interventions in the institution by TETFUND,” the president said.

Speaking, Prof. Florence Obi, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, said when she came on board they had to make appeals and sign undertakings to make proper use of funds allocated to the institution.
