President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has put aside his planned travel to Johannesburg and Luanda after receiving fresh security reports on the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi and the violent attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State. The Presidency confirmed that the decision followed growing concern over the two incidents, both of which have drawn national and international attention.

The President approved the immediate deployment of more military and police personnel to Eruku and across the Ekiti Local Government Area after a request from the Kwara State governor. He also instructed security agencies to track down the assailants who opened fire on the congregation, adding that those responsible must be found and brought before the law.

President Tinubu had been due to depart Abuja for the G20 Summit in South Africa and later continue to Angola for the AU-EU Summit, but chose to suspend the trip while he awaits detailed updates from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf, and from both the police and the Department of State Services regarding the Kwara attack.

He restated his order for security forces to intensify the search for the twenty-four abducted schoolgirls and ensure their safe return to their families.
