President Bola Tinubu has hailed Nigerian-born players who featured in the Seattle Seahawks’ 29–13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60, held at Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, California.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president commended the athletes for making Nigeria proud and projecting the nation’s talent on the global stage.
Tinubu described the Seahawks’ victory—which secured the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy—as a remarkable achievement, noting the contributions of players of Nigerian heritage who formed part of the championship-winning squad.

Among those acknowledged were quarterback Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe, defensive standout Nick Emmanwori, veteran linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, linebacker Boye Maye, and offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi.
Tinubu also extended his congratulations to Michael Onwenu of the New England Patriots, praising him as one of the National Football League’s elite offensive linemen.
He particularly lauded Emmanwori, Nwosu, and Maye for what he described as a proud display of patriotism after the match, noting that they hoisted the Nigerian flag in celebration of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl success.
According to the president, the achievements of the players further strengthen Nigeria’s image globally as a nation whose citizens are known for excellence, resilience, and outstanding performance in diverse fields.
He wished the players continued success and greater accomplishments in their professional careers.
