President Bola Tinubu has enacted a new welfare initiative that provides lifetime salary benefits to senior officials of the Federal Fire Service who retire at the ranks of deputy controller, comptroller, or commandant-general and higher.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during the 2025 ministerial retreat, where he described the policy as a significant advancement in enhancing the welfare and motivation of officers within the ministry’s agencies.
In a statement issued by P.O. Abraham, the National Public Relations Officer and Head of Corporate Services of the Federal Fire Service, the minister expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his backing, emphasizing that this decision is in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We have effectively addressed the long-standing backlog of promotions,” Tunji-Ojo stated, noting that over 50,000 officers have been promoted in the past two years.
