President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenure of Mrs. Kemi Nandap as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) until December 31, 2026.
This announcement was made by presidential spokesperson Mr. Bayo Onanuga on Monday, March 31, 2025.
In the statement, President Tinubu commended Nandap for her substantial contributions to the agency, which include notable strides in border management, the modernization of immigration procedures, and enhancements to national security.
“Under her leadership, the Nigeria Immigration Service has made impressive advancements in its core mandate,” he remarked, highlighting her successful initiatives that have bolstered the country’s security architecture and streamlined immigration processes.
The president emphasized the importance of continuing to align the objectives of the Immigration Service with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, underscoring a vision of sustainable growth and safety for the nation.
He reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that the Immigration Service is equipped to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity while promoting safe, legal, and orderly migration.

“The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Immigration Service in fulfilling its mandate, which is essential for protecting Nigeria’s borders and facilitating effective migration management,” the statement concluded, reflecting the administration’s focus on creating a secure environment for all citizens and visitors to Nigeria.
Nandap, a dedicated public servant with a remarkable career spanning over three decades, first joined the NIS on October 9, 1989.
She assumed the role of Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024, initially expected to serve until August 31 of that year.
However, her impactful leadership and the strategic advancements made under her stewardship prompted the need for an extension.
