In his maiden media chat on Monday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to the tax reforms bill currently before the National Assembly, emphasizing that it had “come to stay.”
The President outlined his administration’s determination to revitalize Nigeria’s economy, stating that outdated methods would no longer suffice. “We cannot continue to do what we were doing yesteryears in today’s economy; we cannot retool this economy with the old groping bolts,” Tinubu said, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver results for Nigerians.
While acknowledging the challenges ahead, Tinubu assured citizens that his focus remains steadfast. “It will not be Eldorado for everybody, but a new dawn is here. I am convinced, and you should be convinced too,” he declared.
Addressing the nation’s economic woes, Tinubu predicted a significant drop in inflation, which is currently at 34%. According to him, the 2025 budget envisions reducing inflation to 10%. He highlighted measures his administration would implement to achieve this goal, including improved security to enable farmers to return to their fields, boosting food production, and encouraging the local procurement and manufacturing of essential drugs.
