President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Dr Bolu Ogunyemi, a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, on his election as the president of the Canadian Medical Association.
The president praised the achievement in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga on Monday.
The statement said that “President Tinubu celebrates this remarkable achievement with Dr. Ogunyemi, a renowned dermatologist in St. John’s, Newfoundland and a visiting specialist in Labrador City since 2018.
“This esteemed recognition is a testament to Dr. Ogunyemi’s visionary leadership, dedication to excellence, and compassionate commitment to enhancing the welfare of others”.

Tinubu expressed confidence that the confirmation of Ogunyemi’s election at the forthcoming medical association’s annual general meeting in May 2025, will empower him and allow him to take the association to new heights.
He assured the clinical associate professor of the prayers and ongoing support of the Nigerian government and people, advising him to stay firm and focused on carrying out his new assignment with inclusivity, and respect for diverse opinions.
