President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged the military to reassess its security strategies, with an emphasis on deploying advanced military hardware and surveillance technology to dismantle terrorist groups nationwide.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, in a condolence message to the people of Borno State on Monday, conveyed the president’s directive while mourning victims of the latest Boko Haram attack in Darajamal, Bama Local Government Area.
The attack, which occurred on Friday night, claimed the lives of several civilians and soldiers.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima described the killings as a tragic loss for both Borno State and the entire country.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Zulum, the people of Borno, and the Nigerian military over this devastating incident.
“While the nation grieves, we are confident that justice will prevail for the bereaved families,” he said.
Shettima further assured that the federal government is determined to strengthen security capacity, pointing to President Tinubu’s approval for more drones and his order for security agencies to intensify and restructure operations in vulnerable areas.
