President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to reject violence and embrace unity as the nation marked Armed Forces Remembrance Day. In a heartfelt message shared via his verified social media platforms, the President called on citizens to honor the sacrifices of Nigeria’s military heroes while fostering peace and solidarity across the country.

Tinubu highlighted the significance of the day as a moment to reflect on the bravery and sacrifices of ex-servicemen and women who laid down their lives to protect Nigeria’s sovereignty. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the ongoing commitment of the nation’s armed forces in safeguarding peace and territorial integrity.

Describing peace as a cornerstone for national development, the President encouraged Nigerians to become ambassadors of harmony. He called for collective efforts to build a future filled with hope, optimism, and unity, urging citizens to shun divisive tendencies and work together for the prosperity of the nation.

“The Armed Forces Remembrance Day allows us to express our gratitude and pay tribute to our ex-servicemen and women who selflessly sacrificed their lives to defend the territorial integrity of Nigeria and other nations,” Tinubu stated.

He further stressed the critical need for peace both within Nigeria and globally, urging the public to honor the sacrifices made by those who have given their lives for the country’s peaceful coexistence. The President reminded citizens that achieving national unity requires rejecting violence and divisiveness.

“Our nation is in dire need of peace, and so is the world. As we mark this solemn event today, remember that people laid down their lives, and many still do so, to guarantee our peaceful coexistence. Therefore, let us eschew violence and divisive tendencies for a peaceful and prosperous nation,” Tinubu said.

He concluded his message with a call to action, urging Nigerians to remain committed to building a harmonious and united country. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to supporting veterans and their families while fostering an environment where peace and unity reign supreme.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an annual event to honor fallen heroes, veterans, and active service members who continue to dedicate their lives to protecting Nigeria. Tinubu’s message resonates as a rallying cry for citizens to prioritize peace and unity, especially during challenging times.
