President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday declared that his administration has already surpassed its revenue target for the year, largely driven by growth in the non-oil sector. The President, who spoke while receiving members of The Buhari Organization (TBO), said the achievement proved that Nigeria’s economy had been stabilized under his leadership.
Tinubu emphasized that his government had stopped borrowing from domestic banks, insisting that what the country needed now was not loans but sustainable job creation. “As I stand before you, I can boast that Nigeria is no longer borrowing a dime from local banks. We met our revenue target for the entire year as early as August,” he said.
The President told the delegation, led by former Nasarawa State governor Senator Tanko Al-Makura, that his administration was focused on fixing the economy, creating jobs, and securing food sovereignty through massive agricultural mechanization. He announced plans for regional mechanization hubs that will train young people and boost agricultural production. “If we remove hunger, we have defeated poverty,” he added.
Tinubu also told his guests not to be intimidated ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that his administration had inherited honesty and transparency from former President Muhammadu Buhari. “We are confident of the path to recovery. Don’t let anyone threaten you with uncertainty. You will have joy at the end of this journey,” he said.

The President praised the loyalty of former Congress for Progress Change (CPC) members who, despite not being appointed to political offices, have remained in the All Progressives Congress (APC). He promised to reward their patience, hinting at ambassadorial appointments. “I couldn’t appoint everybody at once. Thank you for your patience. I still have slots for ambassadorial positions that many people are craving for,” he told the delegation.
Earlier, Al-Makura assured Tinubu of CPC’s unwavering support ahead of 2027, describing him and Buhari as visionaries whose alliance laid the foundation for APC’s rise to power. “Mr. President, you and President Muhammadu Buhari shared more than a political alliance; you shared a vision of justice, economic sovereignty, and good governance,” he said.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also pledged the bloc’s total loyalty, dismissing reports of division within CPC. “Over 90 percent of our pioneer leaders remain active and committed. CPC in every state will mobilize support for you ahead of 2027,” Abbas assured.
The visit, which Tinubu described as a reminder of the historic merger that birthed APC, drew a high-powered delegation of former governors, ministers, lawmakers, party executives, and Buhari loyalists. Members praised Tinubu for stabilizing the economy, sustaining Buhari’s legacy, and steering Nigeria through turbulent times.
