President Bola Tinubu on Thursday awarded ₦200,000 to Nafisah Abdullahi, the winner of the TeenEagle global finals competition.

It is worth noting that the Atiku Foundation had previously honored the TeenEagle champions, including Nafisa Abdullahi, Rukaiya Fema, and Khadija Kalli, with fully-funded scholarships in recognition of their exceptional performances at the TeenEagle Global Finals.

The girls were celebrated for their achievements as they emerged as global winners in different categories of this prestigious academic competition, which the Foundation described as a “remarkable success.”

During a special recognition event in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, along with the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suiwaba Ahmad, acknowledged Nafisa’s impressive accomplishment and the achievements of other students who excelled in the competition.

They referred to her as “a beacon of excellence and inspiration to Nigerian youths.”

Representing Nigeria through the Nigerian Tulip International College, Nafisa triumphed over more than 20,000 participants from 69 countries, including native English-speaking nations, to win the global title.

The TeenEagle competition is a renowned international contest that assesses students’ proficiency in English, critical thinking, and communication skills.

At the event, Alausa stated that the federal government is working to strengthen foundational education to decrease the number of out-of-school children in the country.

He emphasized President Tinubu’s strong commitment to human capital development through increased investments in education, health, and social protection.

“You are the future of Nigeria, and you have made us proud. For the first time in our nation’s history, we have one of the highest budget allocations for education.

“Whenever we approach the President for support in this sector, his answer has always been a resounding ‘yes’ because he believes in you, the children of Nigeria.

“Your success gives us the confidence to ask for more, and we will continue to advocate on your behalf,” the minister stated.

He also announced an additional gift of over ₦100,000 to Nafisa and her peers who excelled in other areas.

In her remarks, Ahmad praised Nafisa’s resilience, intelligence, and determination, assuring that the Federal Government will continue to support young talents who bring honor to the nation.

“Nigerian youths can compete and excel on a global stage. Nafisa has shown that Nigeria is blessed and can stand alongside the best in the world. You are a shining example,” she said.

She encouraged the teenager to view this achievement as the start of a greater journey and commended her parents and teachers for laying the groundwork for her success.

In response, Nafisa expressed her gratitude to Tinubu and the ministers for fostering an environment that allowed her to excel, while also thanking her school.
