The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has announced that President Bola Tinubu has approved the reconstruction of three major federal roads: the Mokwa–Bida Road (120 km), Mokwa–Makeri Road (63 km), and Bida–Labata Road (123.5 km), totaling 306.5 km.
In a statement signed by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Francis Nwaze, it was disclosed that the roads will be rebuilt using reinforced concrete pavement to ensure durability and long-term value.
Nwaze also revealed that the president has approved the extension of the Bodo–Bonny Road to connect with the East–West Road.
“The project will be executed as a dual carriageway with concrete pavement and equipped with solar-powered street lighting. It will be delivered through a competitive bidding process,” he said.
