President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI).
In a press release issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, on June 27, 2025, it was announced that Ahmed will oversee the operations of the presidential initiative, which aims to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal by providing more affordable, cleaner energy alternatives.
The PCNGI is part of the Tinubu administration’s program to provide relief measures.

Ahmed, 45, graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Abuja in 2005 and was called to the bar in 2006 after completing his studies at the Nigerian Law School in Abuja.
He later earned a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2008.
From 2018 to 2022, Ahmed served as the senior special assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the national social investment programme.
