Delta State security operatives recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against crime as three armed kidnappers were neutralized during a heated gun battle in Otulu, Aniocha South Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a viral video circulating online where the deceased were being dragged out of an Army truck in Delta.
The dramatic encounter followed the abduction of a driver, Mr. Igiri Samuel, a staff of Seth Integrated Farms, and Miss Mercy Iteshi, who were kidnapped on Friday, August 15, 2025, behind the Oshimili North Local Government Headquarters in Akwu-Akwu Igbo.
Based on credible intelligence received on August 17, troops of the 63 Brigade, Asaba, working with the Delta State Government House Tracker and local vigilantes, pursued the suspects from Atuma-Iga into Otulu. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, leaving three kidnappers dead on the spot.
Security forces recovered ₦2.4 million in cash, 52 live rounds of ammunition, one AK-47 rifle, several mobile phones, and other valuables from the criminals.

During the rescue operation, the female victim and a soldier sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.

He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to building a safer Delta and urged residents to remain vigilant by reporting suspicious activities.
The successful operation has once again sent a strong message to criminal elements: Delta State is not a safe haven for kidnappers.
