Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has declared that those who questioned his educational qualifications during the 2023 electioneering campaign have been proven wrong and silenced.
Speaking at Government House, Asaba, while hosting the executive committee of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Alumni Association Worldwide, on Friday, Gov. Oborewori pointed out that his academic credentials were never in doubt.
He recalled how political opponents attempted to discredit him, stating “some persons who were bent on tarnishing my image during the 2023 electioneering campaign went around saying that I did not go to school.”
He however, noted that the presence of the AAU alumni leadership at the event was further proof that he is a proud graduate of the institution.
Gov. Oborevwori expressed his deep respect for AAU and recounted his experience as a student, stating “I did a full-time programme at AAU. I am a man with excessive local content.
“I believe in Nigeria and in this state. I graduated with 2:1 after my B.Sc. I was a student who doesn’t make noise, and today, all my coursemates at Ekpoma still support me.”
He further highlighted his academic journey beyond his undergraduate studies, stating: “Not only that, I did my M.Sc programme full-time in Delta State University, Abraka. I was among the pioneer students of M.Sc, and I value it.”
The governor acknowledged the university’s unwavering support during the legal battles that challenged his academic qualifications.
He noted that AAU stood by him so strongly that even opposition lawyers were shocked by the institution’s firm backing.
In recognition of his achievements, the AAU Alumni Association conferred on him two prestigious honours, the Hero’s Award and the Award of Excellence.
Dr. Clifford Omozeghian, the worldwide president of the association, described Gov. Oborevwori as a testament to the success of AAU’s alumni network.

He revealed that the project, already at an advanced stage will be named after Gov. Oborevwori in recognition of his contributions.
“We, therefore, humbly appeal to your Excellency to support this project and bring it to a speedy completion as we have resolved to name the building as Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori Exams and Records Building, to further consolidate your name in our alma mater,” Omozeghian stated.
In response, Gov. Oborevwori pledged his personal support for the project and expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the university and emphasized the lasting impact of his time at AAU, declaring that passing through the institution had shaped his success in life.
