The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Afolabi Babatola, has vehemently denounced the recent clash between police and military officers at Target Junction, Yola North local government council.
On Tuesday night, Yola, the administrative headquarters of Adamawa, was gripped with tension as a confrontation unfolded between soldiers and the police, resulting in a standstill in the state capital.
The exchange of gunfire in the clash was also observed to have claimed the life of Inspector Jacob Daniel.
In response to the escalating situation, Commissioner Babatola promptly ordered an immediate investigation, emphasizing the imperative of restoring peace and justice.
In a press statement released to journalists in the state, the Commissioner warned that attacks on security officers in the line of duty would no longer be tolerated, irrespective of the circumstances.
He stressed the sanctity of all security personnel’s lives, asserting that any unwarranted conflict would be dealt with according to existing laws.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with other security agencies to protect the fundamental rights of security operatives.

Appealing for calm, Commissioner Babatola assured the public that the top management of both security agencies is diligently working within legal frameworks to address the situation.
