A 17-year-old teenager simply identified as ThankGod has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command following an alleged attack that led to the death of a man who allegedly assaulted his mother.
In a video interview released by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Edafe Bright, ThankGod admitted to the murder.
He recounted that the altercation began when he found his mother on the ground after a confrontation with the man. Fueled by anger, he went to confront the individual, and a fight broke out in which the man reportedly injured him with a small knife. Despite being advised by family members to forgive the man due to his age, ThankGod said he struggled to let go of the incident.
Four days later, he encountered the man again, and in a moment of anger, attacked him with a machete, intending only to injure him. “I saw the man four days later. After I cut the man’s hand, he just jumped down from his bike and ran inside the cassava bush. Unfortunately, the attack resulted in the man’s death,” ThankGod recalled.

In a separate case, another young man, 21-year-old Monday Peter, was also arrested on murder charges. He admitted to killing his friend, Ifeayin Ezekiel, during an argument over unpaid wages.
Peter explained that Ezekiel had refused to pay him for a job, leading to a fight in which Peter fatally stabbed him with a knife.
SP Edafe Bright expressed concern over these violent incidents involving young individuals and highlighted the serious consequences of uncontrolled anger. “It’s disheartening to see young lives affected by poor choices and violent actions,” Bright said. He urged youth to consider the consequences of their actions.
Both ThankGod and Monday Peter will face charges in court, where they will be held accountable for their actions.
