The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says its engineers are working tirelessly to complete the re-erection of Tower 7 in Rigasa Community, Kaduna, which collapsed due to vandalism.
This was disclosed today on the TCN official website.
“Significant progress has been made, with damaged tower members already dismantled and replaced alongside vandalized portions.
“The tower’s re-erection is nearing completion, with line tensioning to follow shortly.
“TCN’s engineering crew is committed to the swift completion of the tower, aiming to restore bulk power transmission along the 132kV transmission line in the shortest possible time.
“The tower collapsed on September 18, which caused a disruption in the transmission of bulk power to some Kaduna Electricity Distribution (KAEDCO) load centers, particularly those supplying power to parts of Kaduna South.

“While inspecting the site of the incident, however, TCN’s linesmen discovered that vandals had carted away some of the tower members, making it susceptible to collapse,” the TCN said.
The incident primarily affected power supply to parts of Kaduna South, causing power interruptions in some communities.
However, to ensure that the impact of the incident is curtailed, TCN has advised the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) to link its 33kV Mogadishu feeder with the 33kV Abakwa feeder to enable electricity customers in Mogadishu to have access to power supply.
Areas such as Kinkinau, Yan Tukwane, Kabala West, Unguwan Muazu, and Kaduna North are unaffected by the incident and therefore have normal power supply.
