The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) held a pivotal Joint Advisory Committee meeting on December 4, 2024, at TCN’s corporate headquarters in Abuja. The discussions centered on evaluating the company’s achievements in 2024 and formulating strategies to drive industrial harmony and sustainable growth in 2025.
The TCN Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Sule Abdulaziz, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between management and the union to enhance service delivery and ensure a more efficient power transmission network in the coming year. The meeting is in line with the need for continuous improvement and proactive planning to meet Nigeria’s growing energy demands.
As part of TCN’s efforts to expand its transmission capacity, Engr. Abdulaziz inspected key projects, including the Alausa Transmission Substation in Lagos. The newly commissioned 100/125MVA 132/33kV power transformer, operational since September 26, 2024, has significantly increased the substation’s capacity from 135MVA to 235MVA. This upgrade ensures additional bulk power supply for Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, benefiting residents and businesses in Ikeja, Oregun, Alausa, Ojodu, and surrounding areas.
Additionally, the TCN boss visited the Ota 132kV Transmission Substation, where another 100MVA transformer was recently commissioned, with a second transformer installation underway. These upgrades are part of the TCN-World Bank transmission expansion projects aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and improving power supply reliability.
