In an official statement released today, March 28, 2025, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, described the development as a significant step in curbing vandalism of critical power infrastructure. TCN is working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that the suspects face proper prosecution, emphasizing that acts of vandalism pose a serious threat to Nigeria’s power sector. Ndidi Mbah stressed that damaging power installations not only disrupts electricity supply to communities but also affects national efforts to maintain a stable and efficient grid.
“Vandalism of power infrastructure is a serious offense that causes widespread power outages, financial losses, and hampers economic growth. It is crucial for communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. By working together, we can protect our electricity infrastructure and ensure a more stable power supply for all,” Mbah stated.
The arrest underscores the growing urgency to combat vandalism and secure Nigeria’s power assets. TCN has urged the public to report any suspicious activities around power installations to law enforcement agencies immediately, as proactive measures are essential to safeguarding the nation’s electricity grid.
