Professional women from diverse fields across Taraba state have urged young women to fearlessly pursue careers and leadership roles, declaring that no dream is beyond reach.

The call was made at the maiden edition of the Professional Summit 2025, organised by the Young Professional Forum of the Deeper Life Bible Church, held in the church’s auditorium in Jalingo, the state capital.

Held under the themsi0088e “Stepping Out,” the summit brought together women from professions including law, medicine, fashion design, academia, and public service, who shared personal experiences and encouraged young women to challenge societal barriers.

Addressing participants, Pastor Chike Onwuasonya, State Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Taraba North, cautioned young women against shortcuts or unethical practices in their quest for success.

“We want young women to know they can reach any height they dream of,” he said. “You don’t need to sell your body or cut corners to actualise your dreams. Let your heart guide you, not just your eyes, and God will always come to your rescue.”

Pastor Onwuasonya also highlighted the importance of mentorship, urging established women professionals to guide the younger generation.

Speaking at the event, Professor Elkanah Obadiah Sambo, President of the Young Professional Forum in Taraba, described the summit as a platform to inspire purpose and diligence among youths. He cited the biblical story of Ruth as an example of how courage and hard work can transform lives and communities.

“This summit is geared towards impacting positively on the young ones in society,” Sambo said.

Delivering a keynote message on behalf of the Chief Judge of the Taraba State High Court, Justice Clara Kataps, Justice Esther Tata cautioned women against feelings of inferiority and encouraged them to seek visibility in society.

“Ruth would have remained in the dark if she had not stepped out to pursue her dreams,” Justice Tata said.

Also speaking, Dr. Augustina Godwin, Commissioner of Basic Education, challenged women to leave their comfort zones, pursue education, and acquire skills that empower them socially and economically.

“Cease procrastinating,” she advised. “Women who step out with God have no limits.”

Other speakers at the summit included members of the Federation of Women Lawyers, the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, and various professionals, all of whom underscored the importance of “stepping out” as essential for women’s advancement and broader societal progress.
