The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has expelled from the party the Senator-elect for Taraba South senatorial district, Jimkuta S.U David.

Sirajo Sallau, Takum local government council chairman of the party, made this known on Saturday in the letter made available to journalists in Jalingo. He said David’s expulsion was necessitated by his “gross anti-Party activities in the just concluded general election.”

It would be recalled that the embattle Senator-elect to have defeated the incumbent governor of the state, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku in the just concluded senatorial election.

His expulsion from the party, according to Sallau, was arrived at following the recommendations of the disciplinary Committee, which he said was earlier set up to investigate his “alleged gross anti-party activities.”

According to the committee, his expulsion from the party was necessary due to his “sponsorship and open campaigning for a rival political party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Taraba state and its governorship candidate.”

Others, as listed in the expulsion letter, are “open, express and tacit denunciation of the APC and its governorship candidate, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha” and ” open canvassing of votes for the PDP and its governorship candidate.”

Making references to Article 21(B) (i) (vi) of the party’s constitution (2022 as amended), the decision of the leadership of the party in Takum local government council to expel the Senator-elect, he said, has become necessary.

“The Takum executive committee of the APC after due deliberations of the report of the disciplinary Committee set up to investigate allegations of gross anti-party activities against Jimkuta S.U David, has arrived at the decision to expel him from our great party”. He said

Not disturbed by the party’s decision, the Senator-elect, in a telephone conversation with our state correspondent, said those behind such decisions “are not members of our great party (APC).”

He noted that ” I don’t even know those people, I’m still a member of the party, and the senator elected for Taraba south senatorial district.
