The Taraba State government has opened bids for the construction of farmer field schools and the development of pastures for seed multiplication under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project.
The bid opening ceremony, held in Jalingo, was described by project officials as a significant step towards improving livestock productivity, promoting climate-smart agricultural practices and boosting the livelihoods of farmers and pastoral communities across the state.
Speaking, the L-PRES State Coordinator, Mr. Hanania Albert, said the exercise marked a key milestone in the implementation of the project.
Represented by the project’s ICT Officer, Mr. Ezra Artimas, Albert explained that the facilities to be constructed would serve as practical learning and innovation centres to support sustainable livestock development in Taraba.
He said the bid opening was conducted in strict adherence to approved procurement guidelines, in line with the project’s commitment to transparency, fairness and accountability.

According to him, the exercise was limited to the public opening and announcement of bids received, while detailed technical and financial evaluations would be carried out at a later stage in accordance with due process.
Albert commended the participating firms for their interest in the project and assured that L-PRES would continue to ensure prudent management of resources and value for money.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Prof. Nicolas Oliver Namessan, applauded the World Bank and the Taraba State government for supporting the initiative.
Represented by the Director of Livestock Services in the ministry, Mr. Musa Damen, he assured stakeholders that the ministry, working with L-PRES, would maintain transparency throughout the selection process.
Officials also expressed appreciation to members of the procurement committee, technical teams, observers and other stakeholders for their cooperation and commitment to a transparent procurement process.
