The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate for Lau Local Government Area in the November 8 Taraba State council elections, Peter Julius, has pledged to focus on youth empowerment and agricultural development if elected.
Speaking during the final phase of his campaign in Lau town over the weekend, Julius said his administration would align closely with Governor Agbu Kefas’ vision for youth development through skills acquisition, sports promotion, and job creation. He emphasized that investing in young people would not only reduce crime but also drive economic growth and community progress.
“My intention is to prioritize youth development through skills training and talent promotion in sports to complement the efforts of Governor Agbu Kefas,” Julius said. “Youth development is the foundation of a crime-free and prosperous society.”
He also promised to work with government agencies and non-governmental organizations to enhance agricultural productivity in Lau, which he described as having the potential to become the economic powerhouse of Taraba State. According to him, improved access to modern farming tools, fertilizers, and agrochemicals will help local farmers increase yields and income.
“I will collaborate with relevant agencies and NGOs to ensure farmers get the necessary support to boost production and transform Lau’s agricultural landscape,” he added.
The PDP chairman of Lau LGA, Ibrahim Ezekiel, and the Director-General of the Peter Julius Campaign Organization, Absolom Simon Sayonti, called on residents to rally behind Julius, describing him as a leader capable of sustaining and expanding the developmental strides of Governor Kefas’ administration.
Elder statesman Philip Kondila and former Commissioner for Works, Hon. Ibrahim Haman Jude, also voiced confidence in Julius’ ability to deliver effective leadership and bring unprecedented progress to the people of Lau.
As part of his youth engagement initiative, Julius donated a full set of football jerseys and two FIFA-standard balls to Win-Lau FC, a local football club, reinforcing his commitment to sports development and community inclusion.
