The Niger Delta has witnessed an unprecedented crackdown on oil theft, largely due to the relentless efforts of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), under the leadership of High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo. Over the past two years, Tantita has uncovered a staggering 3,963 cases of oil theft, signaling a transformative shift in Nigeria’s fight against this economic sabotage.
In a stunning report shared during the company’s end-of-year event in Warri, Delta State, TSSNL’s Managing Director, High Chief Kestin Pondi, revealed that their operations have slashed crude oil losses by 79%. The reduction, from a shocking 36.69 million barrels in 2022 to just 7.68 million barrels in 2023, underscores Tantita’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s oil and gas resources.
This monumental achievement is the result of Tantita’s collaboration with government agencies, security forces, and local communities. Pondi attributed the success to the bravery and dedication of all stakeholders, including TSSNL personnel, whom he hailed as national heroes. Paying tribute to the “fallen heroes” who lost their lives in this fight, Pondi emphasized that their sacrifices have not been in vain, noting that their efforts have revitalized Nigeria’s crude oil production and fortified the nation’s economic stability.
Tantita’s operations from August 2022 to November 2024 paint a grim picture of the scale of oil theft in the Niger Delta. Within this period, the security outfit discovered:
– 702 illegal connection points
– 971 cases of crude oil theft
– 1,784 illegal refineries
These illegal activities led to the destruction of over 3,000 refining units. Furthermore, the team apprehended eight vessels, three tugboats, six barges, 117 vehicles, 52 tanker trucks, 47 speed boats, and nearly 1,750 wooden boats engaged in illicit operations.

Pondi acknowledged the vital role played by the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police Force, Civil Defense, and DSS in curbing oil theft. He also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for their unwavering support, which he described as instrumental in achieving these results.
“Our battle against oil theft is not merely about securing pipelines; it is a mission to protect Nigeria’s economic future,” Pondi said. He credited the establishment of the industry-wide security framework, “Operation Plug,” under the leadership of NNPC’s Mele Kyari, as a game-changer in the fight against oil theft.
As part of the celebrations, Pondi honored the personnel who died while combating oil theft. He called them the bedrock of Tantita’s success, adding that their courage and sacrifice have inspired others to continue the fight.
“To the fallen heroes, your blood waters the flag of our success,” Pondi stated solemnly. “Your sacrifices have ensured that our nation has a booming economy once again.”
While celebrating the achievements, Pondi urged stakeholders to remain vigilant and committed to the fight against oil theft. He expressed optimism that with continued collaboration and government support, Nigeria can eliminate oil theft entirely.
As Tantita Security Services continues its mission, its success serves as a beacon of hope for a more secure and economically prosperous Nigeria. This fight, Pondi affirmed, is not just about protecting resources—it is about securing the future of the nation.
This report highlights not only Tantita’s groundbreaking results but also the larger narrative of unity, sacrifice, and determination required to confront one of Nigeria’s most significant challenges.
