The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has officially appointed the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Garba Tambari to lead the newly established 2025 Hajj pilgrimage committee.
This announcement was made in Gusau on Friday by Mallam Abubakar Nakwada, the Secretary to the State Government.
According to the statement issued by the Secretary, the primary objective of this committee is to ensure that all aspects of the pilgrimage are executed smoothly for the Zamfara pilgrims, addressing their diverse needs throughout the journey.
The committee is expected to begin its work immediately, with Alhaji Habibu Balarabe appointed as the Secretary to assist in coordinating activities and ensuring effective communication.

The committee comprises several notable members, including Sulaiman Gummi, Malam Bello Almufty, Murtala Jangebe, Abubakar Furfuri, Alhaji Rabi’u Ilili-Bakura, Malam Ibrahim Izala, Malama Sadiya Mahe, and Malama Hadiza Gummi. Each member brings unique skills and experiences that will contribute to the committee’s mandate.
The main responsibility of the committee will be to oversee the operations of the State Hajj Commission, ensuring that all activities align with established regulations and guidelines both in Zamfara and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the 2025 Hajj season.
The statement further emphasized, “The committee was mandated to effectively supervise the activities of the State Hajj Commission and its sub-committees. It is also tasked with ensuring total compliance with local and Saudi regulations throughout the entire Hajj exercise in 2025.” This level of oversight aims to facilitate a seamless and organized experience for pilgrims, reflecting the state’s commitment to honoring this important religious obligation.
