The Super Falcons have arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, to a tumultuous welcome after their successful journey from Morocco, where they secured their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
The team landed at 2:26 pm on a chartered flight and was greeted by enthusiastic fans and prominent government officials, including the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Hanatu Musawa, and the Minister for Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.
The Super Falcons are scheduled to showcase the WAFCON trophy in an open-top bus parade throughout Abuja, before proceeding to the Presidential Villa for a reception with President Bola Tinubu.
In a historic match on Saturday, the team staged a remarkable comeback from a two-goal deficit to defeat the host nation, Morocco 3–2 in a thrilling final.

Morocco had taken a 2–0 lead by half-time with goals from Ghizlane Chebbak and Mssoudy.
Nigeria’s comeback began in the 63rd minute when Okoronkwo converted a penalty following a handball in the box.
Eight minutes later, she assisted Ijamilusi with the equalizing goal. The winning goal was scored in the 88th minute when Echegini netted from a free kick.
This victory upholds Nigeria’s flawless record in WAFCON finals, with 10 wins in 10 appearances, further solidifying their status as the most successful women’s national team in Africa.
