A former Chelsea player, Emmanuel Sarki, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the challenges facing the Super Eagles.
Currently, the Super Eagles are in third place in the group with 14 points and need to win by at least two goals, while also hoping that South Africa does not defeat Zimbabwe to qualify.
Sarki expressed his belief that the team has the capability to succeed.
“I still have some doubts, but I hope we can qualify for the World Cup by God’s grace. We will win against Benin,” the former Golden Eaglets striker told allnigeriasoccer.com.
He further noted that his confidence is based on the talent and depth of the current Super Eagles lineup.
“With the squad we have now, they are ready and capable of facing any team. That’s why I believe we will qualify for the World Cup.”
Benin is currently leading Group C with 17 points after a narrow 1-0 victory over Rwanda last Friday in Kigali.
Nigeria is set to play against the Benin Republic in a crucial Group C match today at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
