Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has made a stunning move off the pitch by purchasing Kaduna’s iconic football club, Ranchers Bees, in a bid to revive its former glory. The Real Sociedad forward completed the takeover of the Nigeria National League (NNL) side alongside prominent Kaduna politician Bello El-Rufai, marking a bold new chapter for one of Nigeria’s most storied teams.
Ranchers Bees were a dominant force in Nigerian football during the early 1990s, famously winning the WAFU Cup in 1993 and producing legendary players such as Daniel Amokachi, Dominic Iorfa, and Davidson Owumi. Once a powerhouse, the club has since struggled to regain its status, but Sadiq is determined to change that.
Following the acquisition, Sadiq and his partners wasted no time in making big decisions, appointing former teammate Nura Abdullahi as the new club president. The goal is clear: push for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in the coming season and re-establish Ranchers Bees as a force to be reckoned with in African football.
