Nigeria’s Super Eagles have made a significant leap to 26th place in the latest FIFA world ranking released on Monday, achieving a remarkable 12-position increase.
The team moved up from 38th after a strong performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where they secured third place overall.

Nigeria is now the third-best team in Africa, trailing only AFCON finalists Senegal, who are ranked 12th globally, and Morocco, which holds the eighth position in the world.
Algeria and Egypt, both of whom were eliminated by Nigeria during the tournament, are ranked fourth and fifth in Africa, respectively.
