Previously, Nigeria was in third place in Group C, trailing leaders Benin Republic and second-placed South Africa by three points, but this win has renewed their hopes for advancement.
The Super Eagles achieved victory with goals from Troost-Ekong and debutant Akor Adams.
This win brings Nigeria closer to qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after their 2-1 triumph.

Troost-Ekong opened the scoring with a penalty after a handball in the Lesotho box, igniting celebrations among the home fans.
Akor Adams later extended the lead with a precise finish, putting Nigeria in a strong position.
Lesotho managed to respond with a goal from Kalake, but the Eagles held on to secure the vital three points.
However, Benin Republic also scored in their match, leaving Nigeria still behind in points and goal difference in Group C.
With only one game left in the group, the Eagles’ fate is not entirely in their control.
