The Sultanate Council has dismissed claims that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III left the country after the United States airstrike on terrorists hideouts in Sokoto.
This is contained in a statement from the council’s Public Relations Officer, Aminu Haliru Gidadawa on Saturday, dismissing claims made in a viral video on social media, alluding that the sultan was missing and his whereabouts unknown.
Traditionally, the monarch is expected to inform his council about any travel plans or engagements intended for public knowledge.
