Residents of Kawaji Saunar MamaU community in Nassarawa Local government Area of Kano State, were thrown into jubilation as the LG electronics unveiled a solar powered borehole to provide access to potable water in the area.
Expressing her satisfaction on the project, a resident of the community, Maryam Hassan, said for years, her community has been faced with the issue of having portable water, especially during the dry season where their wells go dry and residents would have to trek long distance in search of water.
Having a bit of relief, she said, “now we have safe drinking water and what to help us tidy our homes”.
Speaking during the commissioning of the project on Wednesday, the LGs Head of Corporate Marketing, Mr. Paul Mba, expressed the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and community empowerment.
He said the initiative is part of the local government’s corporate social responsibility program, which is dedicated to fostering sustainable development and elevating the quality of life for underserved communities.
Mba noted that in 2025, the company intends to reach out to 50 communities in Nigeria through its corporate social responsibility program, saying, Kawaji Saunar MamaU community is the ninth project carried out so far.

“Water is a basic necessity. At the local government level, we are dedicated to leveraging technology to enhance lives.
“By integrating solar power into this project, we guarantee that the community will enjoy long-term access to clean water without the burden of high energy costs,” he said.
While noting that the borehole is equipped with a state-of-the-art purification system that ensures the water meets safe drinking standards, he added that, the borehole tends to benefit hundreds of households, significantly reducing the incidence of water borne diseases and improving overall community health.
The District Head of Nassarawa Local Governmwnt Area, Kabiru Hashiru, thanked the local government for the project and urged the community members to ensure proper maintenance of the borehole for their benefits.
