The Southern Kaduna Leadership Council (SKLC) has concluded plans to host a grand reception in honour of the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd).

The event, billed for Saturday, November 22, 2025, will hold at the Kafanchan Township Stadium, the commercial hub of Southern Kaduna.

Chairman of SKLC, Elder Ishaya Dary Akau (OON), disclosed this during the Council’s 19th meeting held at the Throne room Trust Ministry, Kafanchan, on Wednesday.

He said General Musa would be decorated with the Council’s highest honour — the Grand Commander of Southern Kaduna in recognition of his meritorious service to Nigeria and his exceptional performance as the Chief of Defence Staff.

Akau described the retired General as a worthy ambassador who made the region, Kaduna State and the nation proud in his military career.

At the meeting, the Council also inaugurated the Finance Committee of the Southern Kaduna Cultural Festival (SKFEST), with the Executive Chairman of Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Comrade Jerry Adams, appointed as chairman.

The Executive Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area, Hon. Larai Sylvia Ishaku, will serve as secretary, while other members include Hon. Wilson Iliya Yangye, Deputy Controller, Universal Insurance; Mr. Kabir Kasim, Corporate Affairs Manager (North), Nigerian Breweries Plc; Hon. Christopher Haruna, former Chairman, Zango Kataf LGA; and Mr. Danjuma Kai, among others.

The meeting was attended by several government officials led by the Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Henry Danjuma Magaji, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Ado Dogo Audu.

They informed the Council that Governor Uba Sani had secured federal government approval for a special intervention project on the Jere–Kagarko–Jaba–Kwoi–Kafanchan road.

Also in attendance were the Chairmen of Kachia and Jema’a LGAs, Dr. Daniel Manzo Maigari and Hon. Peter Tanko, as well as the Commissioner for Sports, Prof. Ben Gugong, who briefed the Council on development efforts across the state.

The Council urged residents to participate actively in the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It also congratulated the Chairman of the Community Development Associations Forum, His Highness, Mr. Bature Sunday Likoro, on his appointment as the Agwom Ikulu (Kamuru) III, the paramount ruler of Ikulu Chiefdom in Zango Kataf Local Government Area.
