The Nigeria Immigration Service has witnessed a historic milestone as six distinguished senior officers were officially decorated as Deputy Comptroller Generals (DCGs) by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board (CDCFIB), under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior.
The newly decorated Deputy Comptroller Generals are DCG N. Odikpo, DCG F. U. Nwanneka, DCG S. B. Daura, DCG D. M. Bagari, DCG A. Obianime, and DCG S. A. Rano. Their promotion was described as a significant step in strengthening leadership and ensuring continuity in the Service.
At the ceremony in Abuja, the Secretary of the CDCFIB, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) A. M. Jibril, congratulated the officers, noting that their elevation represents not only personal achievement but also a collective gain for the Immigration Service. He stressed that the appointments mark a turning point for career advancement and greater institutional efficiency.

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who performed the decoration, reaffirmed that the Federal Government remains committed to merit-based promotions. He charged the new DCGs to uphold professionalism, loyalty, and dedication as they work alongside the Comptroller General to safeguard Nigeria’s borders and strengthen national security.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also pledged the government’s support for the continuous career growth of officers across all services, emphasizing that building strong institutions requires capable leaders at every level.
Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, DCG N. Odikpo expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the confidence reposed in them. She also thanked the Minister of Interior and the CDCFIB for their roles in the process, assuring that the new DCGs will redouble their efforts to justify their appointments and contribute meaningfully to national security and institutional excellence.
