Singer John Njenga-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has taken to social media to dismiss rumours surrounding his marriage to Precious Hassanity.
A viral report had surfaced alleging that Skales divorced his wife due to her perceived mockery of his music career on social media.
The speculation originated from a post by an X user, identified as @Verity_HQ, who claimed that Skales was quoted as saying: “I divorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post, and I don’t regret it.”
The user further said that Skales expressed his frustration over Precious’s actions, stating that it was unacceptable for her to join the chorus of trolls mocking his musical endeavours, an industry that significantly contributes to their family’s financial well-being.
“When my wife made the comment on my post, I got angry. People cannot be mocking your husband’s music career, the music that is paying your bills, and you join them to mock him,” the alleged quote continued.
He reportedly justified his divorce by asserting, “a woman who doesn’t support your hustle isn’t a good wife.”

In a bid to set the record straight, Skales responded vehemently to the claims, stating that he never made such a statement.
He characterized the report as “false” and described the actions of the blogger who perpetuated this narrative as “evil and unfair.”
Taking to his social media accounts, he admonished the dissemination of the lies, stating that “this is really evil of you that you would cook up such a story.
“This is not fair. I have never made such a statement, and this is false. Please stop spreading lies.”
Skales’s relationship with Precious, a chef whom he married in September 2021, has been a subject of scrutiny, especially following the release of some unreleased song snippets in November 2022.
In those lyrics, he appeared to take aim at his wife, using disparaging language and accusing her of failing to assist him during a difficult time, specifically, after the death of his mother, Martina Aiyewa.
In the wake of his mother’s passing, Skales also hinted at underlying tensions in his marriage, sharing a poignant message on social media: “In all you do, make sure you don’t marry a heartless person. Pray for my mental health.”
