Senator Shehu Sani has suggested that life insurance for athletes is the best way to combat the challenges that face athletes after they cease from active sports.
This, he disclosed on his X handle, a probable response to the narrative surrounding the death of one of Nigerias finest goalkeeper Peter Rufai, who kept the post in the glory days of Nigerias football splendor “Life insurance schemes for our athletes who played for the national team and represented Nigeria in world tournaments is the only way to help them when they ‘have gone out of service”

“Too man Nigerian athletes have been reported to have suffered a downturn in their finances. Therefore, making it difficult to cater for their needs after retirement,” he said.
