A shameful spectacle took place at the Government House, Port Harcourt, as pandemonium broke out between the aides of the state Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), over unpaid allowances.
In a twist of irony, those who once shielded and served him turned against him, furious that he was attempting to pack out of office without settling their allowances and entitlements.
Shouts filled the air as aides and even some of his security detail wailed openly, accusing Ibas of trying to “sneak away” while leaving them empty-handed.

Close sources inside the Government House disclosed the scene grew so tense that the administrator’s chief of staff was forced to frantically appeal to the protesting aides, begging them to calm down with vague assurances that “something will be done.”
For Rivers State people, the pandemonium is more than a quarrel over unpaid aides; it is a symbol of Ibas’ disastrous stay.
