Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District, has thrown his full support behind the proposed bill for the creation of Anioma State, stating that it will pave the way for a truly unified Delta State. The bill, currently championed by Senator Ned Nwoko, is part of the ongoing constitutional amendment process aimed at addressing state imbalances within the South-East geopolitical zone.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, Senator Joel-Onowakpo expressed his firm belief that Anioma State’s creation will not only bring political equilibrium to the South-East but also lead to the formation of a more cohesive Delta State. According to the senator, the new state’s establishment will provide a solution to longstanding regional disparities, offering a central headquarters that is widely acceptable to all.

“I fully support the creation of Anioma State, which is essential in resolving the imbalance of states in the South-East geopolitical zone. This move will also give birth to a truly Delta State, where fairness and unity will thrive,” Senator Joel-Onowakpo stated.

He further urged Nigerians to rally behind this significant proposal, emphasizing that the creation of Anioma State is vital to ensuring equitable representation and fostering regional development.
