Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, representing Katsina Central and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, has categorically dismissed rumours suggesting his intention to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement issued on Sunday night, the senator described the reports as “baseless speculation and media mischief,” reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to the APC and its leadership under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The rumours, which surfaced recently on certain online platforms, alleged that Senator Yar’adua was planning to leave the APC for another political party. Addressing these claims, the senator urged the press and the public to disregard such speculative reports, emphasizing that his commitment to the APC remains steadfast. “I wish to categorically reaffirm my unwavering commitment and support for the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he stated. “It’s essential to clarify that not all individuals sharing the Yar’Adua surname imply a political association with me.”

Senator Yar’adua further expressed his dedication to working with party leaders to promote unity, progress, and prosperity for Nigerians. He highlighted his belief in the APC’s vision and its ongoing reforms under President Tinubu’s leadership, stating, “As political leaders, I believe we must join hands with Mr. President to make this administration succeed and ensure the common man feels the impact of the reforms of the APC-led Federal Government.”

The senator’s statement comes amid a wave of defection rumours involving other political figures in Nigeria, including speculations about Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, both of whom have also denied plans to leave their respective parties. Political analysts suggest that such rumours often emerge as part of strategic misinformation campaigns ahead of major electoral cycles, with Nigeria’s 2027 general elections looming on the horizon.

In his concluding remarks, Senator Yar’adua called for unity within the party and urged Nigerians to focus on supporting policies that drive national development. “I remain committed to the APC and will work with leaders across the board to ensure the unity, progress, and prosperity of all Nigerians,” he said.
