The Senate has approved Justice Joseph Oyewole as a justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The confirmation took place on Tuesday, February 3, after the Senate adopted the report of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters.
The report was presented by Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, the committee’s chairman from the All Progressives Congress, representing Ondo Central.
While presenting the report, Sen. Adegbonmire stated: “That the Senate do Receive and Consider the Report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters on the confirmation of the nomination of Justice Joseph Oyewole, as a justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”
The confirmation followed a formal request from President Bola Tinubu, who wrote to the Senate the previous Tuesday seeking approval for the appointment.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read the letter during the session.
After the letter was read, Akpabio referred the executive communication to the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters for further legislative action.
The committee was tasked with completing its work and reporting back to the Senate as soon as possible, leading to the confirmation approved by the chamber.
